This Sunday we begin a series on biblical community by looking at Ephesians 2.14-22. There are all kinds of communities we can and should participate in. But there is no community more important than the local church. Christians must love and spend themselves for their local church. If we’re going to do that, we must understand the beauty and glory of what God has made us in Christ. In this text Paul gives three pictures that illustrate our new identity as the Church: 1) God’s New Humanity, 2) God’s New Kingdom-Family, and 3) God’s New Temple.

We continue our reconciliation series by preaching from Ephesians 4.17-24. In this sermon, we consider the third step of the reconciliation process: repentance. Here we consider the three R’s of repentance: 1) Reject the sin (22), 2) Renew your mind (23), and 3) Replace sinful behavior with righteous behavior (24).

In Ephesians 6.10-20, Pastor Ryan Fullerton (Immanuel Baptist, Louisville Kentucky) helps us to understand the person and the work of the devil so that we as the church can stand firm against his evil schemes.

Josh Lockhart preaches from Ephesians 2.11-13. Here we see that Christians cannot forget where we came. We must remember our hopeless past so that we can always thankfully rejoice for what Christ has done for us. Here he shows us two ways to do that: 1) we are commanded to remember and 2) in response, we are to rejoice.

In Ephesians 1.3-14, Josh helps us to see all that the Godhead has done for us and our salvation: 1) The Father Adopts us, 2) The Son Redeems us, and 3) the Spirit Seals us. And here we find the proper response is to spend our lives praising God.

Every member ministry is a divine calling on the life of every Christian to be deeply committed to and invested in disciplining and ministering to their own local church. This is made possible because Christ when ascended into Heaven, he gave the church leaders gifted in the ministry of the word, and these leaders equip the saints for ministry. As every member ministers in the context of the local church, the whole body grows into greater and greater maturity and the glory of Christ fills the earth.
