E kala mai, majority of the sermon was recorded but we had repeated issues with the sound and recording. In this sermon, Mike Komatsu helps us consider four aspects of the qualifications of elders: 1) his reputation, 2) his home, 3) his character, and 4) his doctrine.

We can often view prayer as ineffective, unproductive, and burdensome. But in 1 Timothy 2.1-4 we find that God uses the prayers of the church to accomplish his purposes for salvation in the world. In this text, the church is called to prayer. And there are three aspects of this call: 1) its priority, 2) its results, and 3) its motivation.

Paul once again charges Timothy with gospel-stewardship in Ephesus. Like Timothy, every Christian has been entrusted by God as a steward of the gospel. And if we are going to be faithful stewards there are two things from our text that we must do: 1) we must wage spiritual warfare and 2) we must avoid spiritual wreckage.

Paul shares his story about how Jesus radically reoriented his life and called him into gospel-ministry. In this text, we find 3 encouragements to keep telling the world about Jesus: 1) Jesus provides mercy for sinners, 2) Jesus displays patience towards sinners, and 3) Jesus creates worship in sinners. Then we close by considering two reflections: 1) No sinner is too sinful for Jesus, 2) Every Chrsitian has a story that must be told.

Pastor Todd Morikawa (Kailua Baptist Church) preaches on the corporate nature of the Christian faith. We see three ways to corporately respond to the gospel: 1) let us continually go to God, 2) let us continually believe the gospel, and 3) let us continually consider one another.

For Resurrection Sunday, we take a look at John 11 and consider the tragedy of death and the hope of resurrection from John 11. We consider four truths that are meant to build our hope in Christ and his resurrection: 1) Christ's Purpose, 2) Christ's Promise, 3) Christ's Passion, and 4) Christ's Power.

God's law is good because it points you to God's gospel. And if we're going to be faithful in gospel-ministry, we need both the law and the gospel. So, in this sermon we consider 1) the goodness of God's law and 2) the glory of God's gospel.

Does doctrine really matter? The answer according to God's word is absolutely yes. Doctrine is a means that God uses to grow us in love for Christ and for others. The goal of sound doctrine is love. Because of this, the church must value sound doctrine. We should grow in it, guard it, cherish it, and live it out. And when there is straying among us, we should be willing to both confront and be confronted. And through it all, we must make sure our aim is always love.

There are many bad ideas on what success means for Christian life and Christian ministry. In 1 Timothy we see that success for the church and for the Chrsitian is the pursuit of faithfulness in all that we believe and practice. In other words, the way we achieve success is through the pursuit of Chrsitian-faithfulness.

Every member ministry is a divine calling on the life of every Christian to be deeply committed to and invested in disciplining and ministering to their own local church. This is made possible because Christ when ascended into Heaven, he gave the church leaders gifted in the ministry of the word, and these leaders equip the saints for ministry. As every member ministers in the context of the local church, the whole body grows into greater and greater maturity and the glory of Christ fills the earth.

These last days are promised to be difficult days. If the church is going to persevere through them, we need to understand the nature of our difficulty, respond with decisive action, and hope in the promises of God.

We conclude our Proverbs series by considering the exemplary life of the Proverbs 31 woman. In her life, we find the culmination of wisdom. We see this expressed in three specific ways: 1) she is diligent, 2) she is dignified, and 3) she is praised. And we are challenged to respond by: 1) trusting in the wisdom of Christ and 2) praising the wisdom of his church.

Fearing the LORD is the beginning and end of all wisdom. In this sermon, we consider three attributes of God from Proverbs that will help deepen our fear of God: 1) the LORD is Sovereign, 2) The LORD is Righteous, and 3) the LORD is Gracious. We also are challenged to make three resolutions in light of our desire to grow in fearing and knowing God: 1) resolve to worship with our church weekly 2) resolve to be in the bible and prayer daily, 3) resolve to fill our mind with thoughts of God moment by moment.

Faithful-friends are an essential part of thriving in God's world. God has called every person to build and cultivate faithful-friendships. In this sermon we consider three reasons why we should do this: 1) Faithful-friends will come alongside you, 2) Faithful-friends will challenge you, and 3) Faithful-friends will comfort you. We can help build these kinds of friendships by being: 1) intentional, 2) hospitable, 3) other-centered, 4) diverse, 5) realistic, 6) patient, and 7) hopeful.

We continue our series in Proverbs by considering the theme of counsel or advice. We will never flourish in God's world under God's rule if we neglect wise counsel in our life. In this sermon we consider four qualities for wise counsel: 1) wise counsel vanishes in isolation, 2) wise counsel flourishes in community, 3) wise counsel engages the heart, and 4) wise counsel flows from God's word.

Pastor Van Michael from Kihei Baptist Chapel preaches on the ultimate meaning of life from Philippians 1.21: to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Conflict is unavoidable and God has called the church to be a people who walk wisely through conflict. If we're going to do that there are four postures to avoid: 1) A greedy-heart, 2) a slanderous-heart, 3) a scoffing-heart, and 4) a contentious-heart. We also find two practices to apply: 1) we need to stay out of unnecessary conflict and 2) we need to proceed slowly of necessary conflict.

Proverbs teaches us that the hearts of fools are ruled by anger. We can find at least four traits of the fool's anger: 1) it's easily-kindled, 2) it's unrestrained, 3) it's ensnaring, 4) it's punished. However, Christians need to be people who deal wisely with anger with three simple practices: 1) repenting of anger, 2) being slow to anger, and 3) waiting on the Lord's anger.
